Trout Fishing Is Fun And Exciting
One of the most exciting days for an angler to spend is a successful day of trout fishing. The lure of the elusive prey and learning to outwit this species, can be a satisfying experience and can offer excitement realize by few other fish. Trout fishing can be exasperating, however as the fish can be elusive and seemingly contrary at times, not striking at bait you have used successfully in the past. That’s one of the frustrating experiences found when trout fishing. What works one day or in one stream or lake, may not work another day or in a different body of water. One of the reasons trout fishing can be so frustrating is that it seems just as you have learned the latest techniques and fishing styles to begin catching the fish, they change the rules. One day they hit on a night crawler and the next day they won’t. They will turn their nose up at a fly that they couldn’t get enough of yesterday. However, one advantage of trout fishing is the fish can survive on smaller prey, making them one of the better game fish to be able to survive in smaller bodies of water, Smaller trout will eat smaller prey such as insects and plankton, while larger fish will consume frogs, salamanders and snail, among other things. Bigger Fish Need Bigger Meals In smaller streams and lakes, there won’t be many record-breaking catches, as there isn’t enough larger prey for them to consume. The old fishing axiom of catching bigger fish takes bigger bait only holds true to a point. When trout fishing, if the bait is too large for the fish to eat, it will generally ignore it. When fishing in smaller lakes and streams, there’s probably more success to be had by using smaller bait and accepting that the size of the fish will be smaller, maybe one to three pounds. If you’re hoping to catch fish in the three to five pound range while trout fishing, you may need to seek out bodies of water which offers the fish a more consistent supply of larger prey. Regardless of the size of a trout on the line, this particular species can put up a pretty good fight. It’s not unusual to watch them leap from the water and continue their struggle for freedom on top of the water. A fight sure to increase your adrenaline level.
